YOUNGSTOWN  AREA WEAVERS GUILD

March to August  2010

MARCH 2010
March 10, 2010 at 10 am at the Canfield Colonial Inn in the Canfield Fairgrounds. The program will be a discussion of William Bateman Multiple Tabby Weaves on four harness looms. Florence Highfield will explain the possibilities. She will bring a threaded loom for all to try.

The agenda for the meeting will include a number of topics of importance:
The terms of officers
Changes for the spring meetings
A possible community service project
Setting up some meetings in members homes
Selection of a print for the President's Challenge

What to bring: sack lunch and mug and of course, Show and Tell. Rumor has it that Howard is bringing his triangular shawl.

Nina has volunteered to bring the snack for the March meeting.

On February 24 th the guild met at the The Lacemakers, shop of Tracy Jackson in Cortland, OH. There was no business conducted at this meeting. Everyone in attendance was amazed at the quality of supplies and quantity of inventory in her shop. A few were able to accomplish the samples of the Nalbinding techniques that Tracy taught us to create.

Mary Ferguson is looking to buy a small floor loom. If you know of anyone interested in selling such a loom, please see her at the meeting or contact her by phone or e-mail.

I anyone needs yarn for the coverlet squares, please let me know so that I can bring it to the meeting.

The weather is looking good for Wednesday, at least temperature-wise, so I hope to see you all there.

Liz Andraso, President

This is a reminder that the February meeting of The Youngstown Area Weavers Guild will be held at the Lacemaker's Shop in Cortland on Wednesday, the 24th at 10 am.

The Lacemaker Should you get lost, call Tracy at 330-637-0057
134 N. High Street Liz at 330-261-0554
Cortland, OH

Travel north on Rt. 11
Exit at Rt. 305, turn left toward Cortland
Turn right at the light at Rt. 46 and continue on Rt. 46.
Stay right as Rt. 46 goes slightly left and you will stay right and proceed onto Rt. 5. (this is now High Street) Just remember to stay right at this intersection.
There is a Rite Aid and a Speedway gas station. It is kind of an "x" intersection instead of a cross.
Stay on Rt. 5 (High Street) through Cortland. You will pass a Sparkle Market on the right. Rt. 5 will go to the left at a fork in the road.
Around the bend will be Main Street. Go through the light. There will be two buildings on the right. Turn right into the parking lot after them. The Lacemaker
is in a little plaza there. If you come to houses on the right, you have gone too far.

After going to Tracy's last Wednesday, I have added to the directions that I previously gave to you. Nancy and I thought that it was a bit chilly, so wear a sweater or sweatshirt (as we did not) or at least layer in case it is warmer.

I checked with Tracy about the wool that I am bringing and she thought that it was great, so don't go out and buy some. She has lots of needles ($8) bone and wood, but if you have a #13 tapestry needle, bring it.

Remember to bring your own mug, so that we will not have to use hers.

We will start the program at 10 am.

Hope the weather holds out, Liz
