YAWG Meetings and Activities

Hi Spinners,
The first Monday of the month is almost here. Don't forget spinning night on Monday, June 2nd. 7:00 PM at the Colonial Inn on the Canfield fairgrounds.

Some of the Activities we do at our regular monthly meetings include:

Dye days: various fibers are died with natural, acid and kool aid dyes we have dyed wool, silk, linen, alpaca, and cotton.

Baskets: We have made some beautiful baskets with all types of materials

Weaving: dish towels, placemats, table runners, blanket’s, coverlets shadow weave, shawls, etc.

Knitting: Socks, hat’s and scarves etc.. Home spun is also used for these articles.

Chair weaving: caning, rush and seats from macramé for summer lounge chairs.

Felting: hats, gloves, coats, vests, purses and wall hangings.

Spinning: from beginning to end, using a wheel or drop spindle. We have learned different ways and have worked with many fibers.

Gourds: We have learned to prepare, color and weave all types of gourds.
