TAA (Trumbull Area Artists)

Hanging Opportunity          

Wine Styles wants to feature a local artist each month in its tasting room. They have asked for TAA’s support in this activity.           

Wine Styles is located in the Howland Plaza, 8208 E. Market St., Warren, next to Giant Eagle. Last month Salli Kowalski (Howland) was the featured artist. This month it is Sue Jacobs (Cortland). Wine Styles hosts an opening reception for the featured artist each month with a wine tasting ($ fee) and hors d’oevres.            

You can be involved by calling the manager Bryan Jones, 330-395-9463 to schedule a one-man show. The display space is maybe 16’x16’ with some wall space broken up by doorways, etc. It’s a good space, and a mutually beneficial opportunity. You get more exposure for your art—they get more people coming into their store.           

The other way to be involved is to help out at the openings. They really need a greeter at the door—a host, or hostess, to welcome guests and steer them in the right direction, giving information about the appetizer table, the gallery space, the wine tasting, etc. The openings are fun, really—a lot of comraderie—a chance for artists to talk with each other informally.            

James Hardy (Warren) will be the featured artist for the month of March. Attend the meet the artist reception there on Saturday, March 15, 6-9 pm.

Next at Nissen Gallery (1st Floor, Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren)           

The next show at the Nissen Gallery will feature the works of three artists—Jo Hodos (Youngstown), Emil Perunko (Warren), and Ann Ryser (Burghill). Jo is well-known for her equestrian subject matter, as well as her palette knife painting style (no brushes here). Emil, a retired teacher in the Warren School System, is mainly a pastel painter. Ann Ryser, also a retired art teacher—Sharon, PA—enjoys an experimental style and still teaches private art students. The show will be up Feb. 18-Apr. 10 during regular hospital hours. (The show after this one will be open to All TAA members!)
