Mahoning Valley Watercolor SocietyOrganized in 1982 as the Mahoning Valley Watercolorists, the purpose of the group is to encourage members to keep painting, learning and improving. Participating in critiques is essential. The work brought in should be in progress. Beginners especially, are encouraged to share their works-in-progress as a way to grow and learn.
ProjectsThe society sponsors painting demonstrations, workshops and exhibitions. A newsletter is produced three to four times a year with the schedule of meetings and events. The group participates in local exhibition opportunities and contributes prize money to some local and statewide exhibitions for watercolor paintings. Scholarships have been give to outstanding Boardman art students. MembershipDues are $15 per year payable in May. Members receive newsletters and membership list. Anyone interested is welcome to attend a meeting. MeetingsThe second and fourth Monday of the month 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. from Sept to May. Meetings are held at the Boardman High School Art room near entrance #3. Members are encouraged to bring paintings for group critique. On the second Monday of the month a business meeting is held during the 7 o'clock break in other activities. The fourth Monday's meeting is strictly a painting session to work on member's own material. sometimes painting problems are arranged for this meeting by the participating artists. Special painting sessions are held outdoors in the summer. |
