Artist's Resume
I
have been painting and drawing almost my entire life. I discovered my
passion for art in elementary school and never lost my interest.
Although I had a true love of the creative world I heard the
term 'starving artist' and I panicked at the thought of going to art
school. So I took the road most traveled and I graduated from Clarion
University of Pennsylvania with a degree in business administration.
Although I chose this path out of fear it certainly was not a mistake. While learning about the business world and how it works I kept
dreaming that someday I would have a business where I could create my own
'stuff' and sell it. I graduated from college and held a
variety of jobs in the business arena. Once I got married and started
my family I became a stay-at-home-mom and dedicated myself to raising my
(3) children. As the kids grew and became more independent I felt it was
time to figure out my career path once again. The thought of working
outside the home and juggling my family life seemed completely
overwhelming. So one day I got online and investigated running a home
business. I was amazed and overwhelmed with all of the information that
was at my fingertips. I read, researched, planned and learned web design
completely on my own. I launched my first website, Images of Home
http://www.imagesofhome.com in
2001, where I create house
portraits from photos and custom moving announcements. That business grew
rapidly and I enjoyed every minute of it. My portraits are created in a
pencil medium and, although I sincerely enjoy creating them, I was
yearning to paint again. An opportunity to create hand painted items for
children presented itself and I began selling personalized children's room
decor on a consignment basis. That niche grew like wildfire. After about a
year of success creating these customized products I decided it was time
to branch out on my own. I built and launched my second website, Creative
Name Signs
http://www.creativenamesigns.com in January 2004. While I am
currently focusing on these two websites, I am also planning to build
and launch another site selling my whimsical styled artwork.
Artist's Statement
I am a self taught artist. I have had no formal training
other than
high school. I create and sell custom artwork. My house portraits are
created in a pencil medium using your photos. Along side the house
portraits I create customized moving announcements which feature an image
of your new home on the front and a customized greeting on the inside as
well as your new address information. I also design and
create hand painted and personalized items for newborns, children,
teens, adults, and pets. Every item is custom designed according to
your wishes and no two are ever duplicated! I truly love what I do! I
encourage all of my customers to send along any thoughts and ideas they
may have! I will gladly work with you to create a one-of-a-kind
personalized creation!
