THE BEGINNING
In February of 2006, the Board of the International Society of Acrylic
Painters decided that if acrylic painters wanted to have more
opportunities to exhibit their work, ISAP would have to grow and
expand by forming Regional or State Chapters.
In March 2006, spearheaded by a Tampa Bay group of artists-most
already signature members of ISAP-stepped up to the plate and after
officers were elected and committees formed, they hit a grand-slam
with the International Society of Acrylic Painters-Florida.
By April 15, 2006, they had found a venue, a sponsor for awards, a
juror and had at least 60 members. Membership applications,
prospectus’ and information postcards were sent out to every known
artist along with galleries and museums throughout the state. ISAP-FL
had attained a membership of 104 acrylic artists by the 4th of JULY
2006!THE MISSION
Our mission is to further the interests of artists in the use of
acrylics/water-media by providing competitive exhibits, encouraging
the study of the acrylic medium, and educating artists and the public
on the significance of acrylics as an important painting medium.
