Cada Cabeza Es un Mundo
I see art and artists everywhere. In
the way a person makes a pizza, in the way a secretary types a letter, in the
way a factory worker puts a car together. We all have our mediums; we’re all
artists. We need to realize that.
I have chosen to paint. I paint in a
state most accurately described as a trance. It’s not unlike me to do an entire
painting in one sitting. In fact, I prefer to work that way.
I want my work to reflect a single
moment in the subconscious, not a process or experiment. The only conscious
experience related to my art is when the viewer stands in front of one of my
paintings for the first time. After that, the entire experience is in the
viewer’s subconscious, staying there forever.
When I look at one of my paintings, it’s
like looking in a rearview mirror. It shows me where I’ve been, not where I’m
going. Every painting takes me in a new direction.
I’ve been a painter all my life. I
graduated from Warren G. Harding High School (Warren, OH) and attended college
at Central Washington State, where I studied sociology and psychology. Artwise,
I consider myself home-schooled. I’ve studied art under two public school
teachers, Charles Daugherty and James Friend. More recently, I studied with my
older brother, Jerry, who teaches art in Philadelphia and New York City, living
in his studio for five years.
Welcome to my site. Please relieve
yourself of the pressure of having to understand any of the paintings you see.
Consider these paintings my half of the conversation that our minds will share.

conversation, you can reach me at my email address.
