Statement:
"Florida and travels have opened new subject matter and new ways of
painting to me. To be able to study with so many very good artists,
and just meet such interesting people widens the world.
The "Mocko Jumbies" are stilt walkers in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin
Islands. They represent some African legends and are popular during
Carnival and other times of entertainment.
The Fire House is in the town where I was born, so represents some of
the nostalgic subjects I cling to after an extremely peripatetic youth
(ten different schools in the first eight years of school)."
My most recent honor was an invitation to be among 100 artists invited
to exhibit in "TIDEwater" for Hampton Virginia's 400th anniversary.
