Mary C. Stealey, Artist
“Grandmary”
Prior
to developing her artistic skills in watercolor, Mary was a landscape
and floral designer. Her love for the beauty of nature is reflected in
many of her paintings.
Mary has produced many award-winning paintings and owes much of her
growth as an artist to the influence of many talented teachers with
whom she has been fortunate to study. Most notably: Anne Abgott,
Timothy J. Clark, Tony Couch, Arleta Pech and Mary Whyte. She is a
member of the Anna Maria Island Art League, Art Center Manatee, Art
Center Sarasota, Artists’Guild of Anna Maria Island, Longboat Key
Center for the Arts and the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society. Her
work is shown at the Artists’ Guild Gallery located in the Island
Shopping Center, Holmes Beach, FL.
For many years Mary painted as a hobby artist, gifting her artwork or
donating proceeds to benefit various charities. After becoming a
grandmother, she began signing her work “Grandmary” and selling her
creations under the name “Grandmary’s Art Studio.”
Since 1994, Mary has lived on Anna Maria Island, Florida, with her
husband, Chuck. Prior to relocating to Florida, she lived on Long
Island, New York, and returns there in the summertime.
