Featured Poetry

Every Month or so we will feature a poet. I would love to have everyone send in a poem of theirs that they have written and I will try and feature it. Steve Shanabarager

Rolls Royce

I’ve worked my fingers to the bone
I make a living, I guess I get along
I just can’t help feeling
I got a Rolls Royce, coming on.

I ‘ll take a headline, over being unknown
even the back page, of the Rolling Stone
and I just can’t help but feel
that Rolls Royce coming on.

I’ll have a limo, a chauffeur driver too
be making records, sell them all to you
Just hoping that it won’t be to long
that Rolls Royce coming on.

Fall of 2004

THE FAR AWAY WAR SOLDIER

A little girl
Cried today,
Her soldier Daddy
Had gone away.

He left to fight
In a far away war,
Her bedtime stories
He will read no more.

No more cuddles
Or kisses in store,
Her daddy had left
To fight a far away
War.

Mommy received
A telegraph today,
She knelt down by her small daughter
And with tears
Began to say.

Daddy went away
To fight a far away war,
But his little girls cuddles
He can give you no more.

Her tears overwhelmed her
She hugged her daughter as she
Sobbed,
Daddy has left us
And is now living with God.

Maybe one day
When the little girl grows much older,
She will tell her own children stories
Of the far away War
Soldier.

I would like to introduce to you "Tramp Poet" Daniel Burt

Daniel has been with Artgally for some time now a number of years. He has entered many poetry contests on Artgally and is now my choice for Poet of the Month Spring

Spring of 2004

Changing Path

Hand held in trembling hand
the protector and the protected
facing danger, swords in hand.
Standing on firm foundation
knowing deep in knower
defeat is not an option.

Waiting, on guard, expecting
an enemy show of mighty hand
probing the never ending dark.
Light flashing on the path
direction, clearly illuminated
unseen allies mark the way.

Cautiously advancing they go
borrowed armor glowing bright
facing their fear with confidence.
Strength flows from ancient word
those who oppose are disposed
swords cutting both to and fro.

They progress together as one
watching, guarding each step
bonded in battle and covenant.
They smile a little for each
roles interchange with precision
reliance gloved, earned with love.
