Jurors' Statement

Our primary objective was to select works that would provide an exhibition of high quality and wide appeal.  We are proud to say that all the work submitted was of the highest quality with a wide appeal. The hardest thing in judging any show is to pick the winners. This show produced only winners because of the extremely high quality of the work. All can be proud of their accomplishments and incite into the world of art.

The criteria for our selection was as follows.
bulletIs it visually able to attract and hold attention.
bulletIs it suitable for public presentation.
bulletDoes it establish an emotional point of view

Juror's Statement
Judging my first on-line show was exciting and challenging. It is very different selecting artwork when all you have is a flat image on a computer screen. It is hard to see brush work, true colors and details. Having said that, I found this show to be very exciting. The quality of the work was high and the variety excellent.
I chose my winners based on design, color and originality. There were many paintings that deserved awards. I spent several days going over and over the pages. My final selections were those images that were well executed and invoked an emotional response.

As a juror I do have a suggestion. When you enter a show that is to be judged by slide or digital image only, remember to present ONLY the image. Do not show the frame, the wall behind the painting or your children holding up the painting. Also do not use flash.
With a flat computer screen image, it is almost impossible to tell if the frame or the kids are part of the painting. When in doubt the juror will usually move on and not select your image no matter how well it is painted or photographed.

I want to thank all of you for the opportunity to view your artwork. Putting your work in a show takes a great deal of courage. You all are winners!
