| Q. How
did you get interested in your field? |
I have been drawing
since childhood (probably about
4 years old), and in fact when I was in grammar
school I could draw mirror images simultaneously
with both left and right hand. Now I draw and paint
exclusively with my left, although I use a computer
mouse with my right. I have composed quite a few
picture graphics in CorelDraw.
|
| Q. Do
you have any work on display? |
I do
not have anything currently displayed except
on my Artgally miniweb site. I have been in some
shows (On Top of the World--Clearwater FL, and Sawnee
Cultural Center in Cumming, GA during recent years). I
have computer graphics published in the CorelDraw
Artshow books 6, and 7. One would have to locate
those by "Robert Hammond of Bogart USA"
|
| Q. Do
you currently have any of your art work for sale? |
All
original oils, acrylics, and watercolors,as
well as prints of all inks displayed on Artgally are
for sale. Interested parties should contact me at rhhdth@yahoo.com
|
Q. Do
you have a web site where people surfing the net
can see your work? |
www.artgally.com/roberthammond
|
| Q. Who
is your favorite artist or favorite work by another? |
I
don't know if I have a favorite artist since I
tend to appreciate artist works for different reasons: anatomical
correctness; color and value; composition, etc. One of my favorite
works of art is the "Last Supper" by Salvadore Dali. I lived in
the Washington, DC for almost 5 years and whenever I took guests
to the National Art Museum I would always make sure they saw this
picture. |
| Q.
What is your own favorite work ? |
If a
picture turns out right, my favorite is
the most recent; however, of displayed works on
Artgally, I probably like the oil of the Grand Canyon
the best. |
| Q. Are
you currently working on a new piece? |
I am
always working on something. For the past
several months I have been doing pen & inks and have
completed about 5 (11"x14")drawings. One of these 5
drawings is displayed on Artgally currently: "Mabry's
Mill." I am also working on an oil of Mabry's Mill
which is incomplete at this time.
|
Q. Can
you tell us a little about yourself; your family,
where you are from? |
I am
retired, having worked 34+ years for the U.S.
Postal Service in a wide variety of craft and
management jobs. After my retirement from the Postal
Service in 1992 I worked for a recreational van
conversion company for several years doing drawings of
parts and assemblies in AutoCad and creating several
manuals for purpose of describing assemblies to
dealers selling the company's vans. I have been fully
retired since 1996.
My wife of 48 years, Doris, retired a few years before
me, and worked as a bookkeeper for a number of
companies in the fields of Radio, Television, Building
and Developing.
Our principal residence is in Cumming, GA., but we
spend the winter months at a Condo in Clearwater,
Fl--On Top of the World Retirement Community.
I enjoy reading, gardening, and painting & drawing in
the summer months and golf, reading, beach activities
and painting & drawing in the winter months.
My wife and I have a daughter, son-in-law, and three
grandsons in Maryland. We both have siblings in
Atlanta area, and I have a sister in New Mexico.
Both my wife and I are from Georgia. I was born in
what is now Atlanta and my wife was born in Walton
County which is located about half way between Atlanta
and Athens, Ga. |
| Q. How
did you find Artgally? |
I
heard of Artgally from a friend and fellow member of Artgally--Chuck
Shapler.
|
| Q.
What advice do you have for anyone going into the arts? |
The
only advice I would share with any aspiring artist
is to draw anything and everything you can on a daily
basis. |
